New series of utility vehicles for underground operations
Following the acquisition of AARD Mining Equipment, Epiroc has integrated a range of utility vehicles into its mining and civil construction portfolio. The new Terrah Series of utility vehicles is designed to maximise modularity, productivity and safety in small to medium-sized underground mining and civil construction tunnels.
“(The) introduction of utility vehicles to our underground product portfolio . . . not only reinforces our commitment to innovation but also strengthens our growth ambitions across Africa and beyond,” says Epiroc underground division president Wayne Symes.
“The versatility of the Terrah Series is unlocking new opportunities, with strong demand already coming from customers outside of Southern Africa,” notes production facility GM South Africa Martina Ahlborg. “Built to last, the Terrah Series is a sustainable choice thanks to its high-quality components and robust design.”
The flexible Terrah TS100 FR and Terrah TS100 FC carriers support a range of modular cassette solutions, allowing for configuration to suit various operational tasks.
“By switching the carriers’ cassettes during a work shift, you can ensure full machine utilisation and maximised productivity,” explains Epiroc underground division global portfolio manager:utility vehicles Daniel Sandström.
The purpose-built machines are developed for specific types of applications, such as the Terrah TS100 SC rock scaling machine which prioritises operator safety by offering excellent visibility, easy maneuverability, and reliable safety features. The vehicle is equipped with a robust telescopic boom, which ensures that the operator is kept away from unsupported ground and enables precise rock scaling and improved productivity.
